32 MILES FOR COFFEE

If you were given the opportunity to have a conversation with Mother Nature, what would you say to her? Mine would read like this:

"The Snowpocalypse you just pulled over a week ago was shitty. Can I ask for less Snow, more Sun and a few weeks closer to Spring?"

Would this be similar to your conversation? Whatever you feel about the white stuff -- love it or hate it, the reality is, it's here.

Typically, when snow hits the ground, I tend to hibernate. There's nothing anyone can do to convince me that'll have me jumping off my couch & peeling off my PJs ... unless it's the four-letter word ... JAVA!

So just like any adventure-seeking couple, my husband and I were off in search of a lovely cup of coffee.

Although winter and snow was clearly alive, I was pleasantly surprised at where we ended up. It was a coffee shop about 32 miles from the city which had a Spring-feel to it. It’s called Sparrow Coffee Naperville.

A skip and a jump from the River Walk in downtown Naperville, this airy and modern coffee shop is a warm place to escape the cold. The decor at Sparrow Coffee reminds me of Spring for a number of reasons. For one, a variety of cactus plants line the center of a long, wooden communal table. Another is the combination of grey linen, white tiled walls and gold sparrow/bird wall fixtures which softens the industrial feature of the space. Finally, the open concept welcomes patrons to get work done, have a date with a friend or crave alone time time.

Behind the counter, baristas are working & creating the coffee of your choice. I ordered my usual ... an almond latte. To my surprise the only non-dairy option was oat milk so I went with it. I wouldn't say I'm completely ditching almond milk or even coconut milk, but it was good to try another non-dairy option. The result? My oat milk latte was spot on!

So if you need an escape from the comforts of your home, Sparrow is one place I would recommend.
